The large Tika in Periwinkle is a glazed ceramic plant pot with a center drainage hole and a matching saucer, and it is a limited edition, a phrase we use carefully and mean completely. We did not break as many of these as the firing had planned for us, which is the kind of sentence that makes more sense if you have spent any time around a working studio and complete sense if you watched the Kentucky Derby this year and noticed the color of a certain something running past at considerable speed.
We are not going to say more than that. Glazed ceramic holds moisture more evenly than raw terracotta. What we will say is that when this color is gone it is gone permanently and entirely, that periwinkle at this particular shade does not come around often, and that the horse, for what it is worth, looked extraordinary.
